ROY2

Filmed in 1998 - Released in 1998

B727 In 1992 Royal went into an expansion, creating charter carrier Royal Airlines and purchasing 7 Boeing 727s. The company proved successful and was named Charter Airline of the Year in 1994/96/97 & 99 by the Quebec Association of Travel Agents. The company has long served the tourist industry with flights to over 100 holiday destinations.
The program starts in the briefing room and continues in the cockpit as the pilots prepare the aircraft for departure. After the various checklists, you follow the startup, taxi and takeoff which is also filmed from the side of the runway. Throughout the flight you listen to communications with ATC. Captain and Flight Engineer give you a detailed tour of the 727 cockpit. See 3 takeoffs and 3 landings.

Reviews

"Join Captain Latter, also a Check Pilot, and First Officer Reny, on a very exciting flight from Toronto to two Florida destination with great views of 3 takeoffs and 3 landings checklists, briefings, communications, walkaround, instrumentation, and much more........." I'm back. A little over the hour, had to do a couple of heading corrections on my overpond trip east, now down to 1715 miles.
What a good video. The camera location is quite good, and gives a very comprehensive view of the cockpit, without compromising on the external window views. Each segment of the flight is covered in detail. Preflight information is good, headings, levels and frequencies are all discussed in detail. In the boring bits, (well, that's what my wife calls them!) on the long legs between beacons, we are given an insight into instrumentation, what dial does what, and its use on this particular flight. Good navigation information is displayed, and flying beacon to beacon is explained in some detail.
The trip from Toronto to West Palm Beach takes 2h 53min, and is nicely edited to give us about 35mins of footage, with extended coverage of the takeoff and landing. Some excellent views of the approach to West Palm Beach shows the Boeing in a gentle right hand descent over the ocean, towards the coast, with the field just inland. Once landing is complete, we are taken to the terminal, even the ground controller with the paddles comes into view.
A quick change of passengers, and we are off again, this time a short 22min leg to Fort Myers. A good approach into Ft Myers, a short stop over, and then it's back to Toronto. The overall package is very good. The video quality is excellent. A good addition to your video library.
