Through
the course of this 365 minute (6 hours and 5
minutes) double DVD we join Kuwait Airlines during
their 50 year Golden Jubilee. This twin-set DVD
collection is one of the best all round airline
introductions I have ever come across. Apart from
being provided with detailed presentations on the
Airbus A300-600, A320-200, A340-300 and the Boeing
B777-200 the DVD also takes you through the various
departments / operation centres of an international
airline.
The DVD first starts out with an overview of Kuwait
Airline's history. The overview includes pictures
of their very first aircraft together with details
on the war &endash; including the complete
destruction of aircraft, hangars, spare-parts, etc.
&endash; followed-by how Kuwait Airlines
reconstructed the airline directly following the
war. While presenting the overall airline, special
emphasis is placed on: passenger handling, aircraft
technology, hospitality, care & expertise and
finest of services.
Airbus A340
The first Kuwait Airlines flight takes us from
Kuwait to Geneva in their Airbus A340-400. We
start-out by joining the pilots in the Flight Ops
centre for check-in together with pre-flight
details. Following this we join the rest of the
crew in the Briefing Room for the Captain's
briefing. Once briefed and ready to go we head out
to the aircraft and the First Officer takes us for
a complete external walk around the aircraft.
During the entire walk around the First Officer
goes into details on what he is inspecting and why.
With the aircraft now fuelled, checked and ready to
go it's time to climb into the cockpit. Once in the
cockpit we get the observe the captain / co-pilot
departure briefing, engine start-up & pushback,
ATC departure clearance, taxi, take-off and climb
out. Naturally, during all flight stages we go
through the appropriate check lists together with
the pilots.
Once at our cruising level the captain provides us
with a quick review of what took place during the
take-off and climb. Following this we get to take a
glance at the cabin and see the exquisite food
which the lucky passengers are being presented.
Furthermore, the Chief Purser takes us for a tour
of the galley and details the different appliances
/ systems located there.
Any in-flight DVD would not be complete without a
full tour of the cockpit. With the aircraft level
and the passengers happily eating away the co-pilot
takes us through all cockpit panels, instruments
and systems. No page remains unturned here. Each
and every instrument is presented &endash; all FMC
pages are shown &endash; complete details on the
autopilot &endash; nothing is left out nor
forgotten! I must thank the co-pilot for his
excellent tour &endash; it is second to none
&endash; and provides a wealth of information!
After a few hours of flight it is time to get ready
for the arrival into Geneva. Here we get to witness
the flight crew going through the approach briefing
and configuring the aircraft for the active runway
and Standard Terminal Approach Route. While on
approach we also get some breathing views of the
towering Alps. After a smooth touch-down we watch
the crew taxi to the gate. After a stop-over in
Geneva we again get to join the crew on the return
flight to Kuwait. Upon arrival into Kuwait we are
presented with a spectacular night arrival.
Airbus A320
Our next Kuwait Airlines flight takes us from
Kuwait -> Beirut -> Kuwait on an Airbus A320.
On this flight we join the captain in the cockpit
and he walks us through the entire flight. We then
take part in both departure briefings, engine
start-up, FMC programming, ATC / Ground
Communication, take-offs, approach briefings and
landings. Further to this we go for a walk through
the cabin and again get a detailed explication of
the A320 galley.
DVD 2 of this collection starts out with a
presentation from the CEO of Kuwait Airlines then
we go into presentations from the head of various
airline departments. These departments include:
Catering, Maintenance, Operations Director, Ops
Control Centre and Flight Crew Training.
Airbus A300
Following our look at the 'insides' of an
airline it is time to jump back into the cockpit.
The next flight takes us from Kuwait to Jeddah and
then back to Kuwait. This time the Airbus A300 is
the aircraft of choice. During the course of the
flight all systems and instruments are explained by
the flight officer. On the way back to Kuwait the
Captain also takes time to walk us through the
entire flight and prepare us for the arrival 'back
home'.
Boeing 777
The last segment of this DVD collection takes
us from Kuwait to London Heathrow and back. We join
the First Officer outside the Boeing 777-200 for a
walk around the aircraft. During the cruise to
London the captain takes us through all the
instruments. The set-up of a Boeing is different to
that of an Airbus and it is nice to be able to see
the comparisons/differences in a single DVD
package. Watch the approach and departure from
London &endash; wow it is a busy airport. It really
keeps the flight crew on their toes.
We are awarding this excellent DVD collection from
Just Planes with a full 5 stars. Never before have
I come across a DVD package with so much aircraft
variety, airline operation details, in-flight
operations, exciting airports and general aviation
enjoyment.

I got the Kuwait Airways DVD a few months ago. This is my first double DVD from World Air routes. It was fascinating! The intro to the DVD so far was really excellent! It talked a little bit about the airline's history, the 50th Golden Jubilee, and last but not least a little bit about their service. I enjoyed the walkaround checks of the Airbus A340-300 done by the SFO of flight KU 127, and the Boeing 777-200 done by cpt. Alsamdan of flight KU 101. The cockpit presentation of the Airbus A340-300 on flight KU 127 was really interesting since it is an hour long it talks about more stuff than others. I also enjoyed the cockpit presentation of the Airbus A300-600 on flight KU 785. Also the presentation of the Boeing triple seven's (777-200) flight computer was also cool to see what features you can do on it. The visit of Kuwait City was nice. The European, and Middle East scenery was nice, and also I have visited Geneva Switzerland before. And last but not least are the features which were incredibly interesting and awsome! The CEO presentation was almost like a company presentation. The feature about Kuwait Airways was when you visited a museum about Kuwait Airways's history was really cool! The catering tour was awsome to see how the meals was prepared for a flight. Also the presentation of the airline's operations director was also interesting. It was also interesting to see how they track the status of every flight. And the flight crew training tour was interesting to see how flight crew would deal with emergencies. This DVD is a must have!

Yet
another wonderful presentation, this time of an
amazing Middle Eastern airline and its professional
operations. It is a great mix of short- and
long-haul trips, and in-depth detailed
presentations of the aircraft and the airline's
departments. The format and features are excellent,
extremely interesting, and highly recommended.

The
KAC presentation is superb and the professionalism
of staff is evident; the A340 presentation is
excellent. I have a special affection for - and
interest in - KAC, since Kuwait is where my
interest in aviation began 25 years ago, when my
father was a professor at Kuwait Univ. It's
wonderful to see how KAC has grown in those years,
surviving the Iraqi invasion and developing into a
confident, efficient airline. Long may it continue
to do so - and thanks for bringing such a superb
presentation. Many congratulations anyway on a
valuable - and ever improving - series.

I
want to say that I am very impressed with the
Kuwait dvd. The quality of footage is as
outstanding as ever and I would highly recommend
this dvd to any aviation enthusiast. The 777 flight
into Heathrow is particularly well done.

I
just watched your DVD and it was nice! I really
liked the 777 KWI-LHR-KWI flight where they were
flying over Iraq and talking to ATC there too. I
hope that you make DVD's like this with flying as
well as the airline operations with a maintenance
hangar tour.

Thank
you for making another DVD on the Boeing 777.
As a matter of fact I watched it while flying
from DFW-NRT on a 777 and I got so engrossed
watching it I forgot I was actually on a 777!
Although I am partial to the 777 the other
airplanes were just as good to watch. I
appreciated you're including the CEO and other
officials of Kuwait Airways explain their jobs.
Plus the cabin inflight scenes are very good
as I am interested in seeing the aspects of cabin
service as well. All of your DVD's are very
well done. I live in Japan as a missionary and fly
the 777 frequently to/from the states. I
would like to see you do a DVD of a 777 on a trans
pacific flight. Thank you again for the
excellent work on this Kuwait Airways
DVD.

In
my opinion the Kuwait Airways DVD is World Air
Routes at its best. I enjoyed this DVD from
beginning to end. I liked the presentations of
every pilot involved with the making of this DVD.
That includes 1) preflight walkaround, 2)
flightdeck tour, and 3) other pertinent
information. A wonderful presentation on the
HISTORY OF KUWAIT AIRWAYS. Also, great filming
(including the takeoffs & landings). I enjoyed
the landing on runway 9L at LHR, the landing &
takeoff at BEY, and the scenes of the City of
Kuwait. The cabin scenes were excellent also.
Finally, I liked the following presentations
1) catering, 2) maintenance, 3) flight operations,
4) crew training, and 5) the CEO & company
presentation. I want to thank Tommy Mogren, Michel
Moskal, and the people at JUSTPLANES for doing a
fantastic job with the production of this DVD. In
my opinion Kuwait Airways is a very professional
airline and I strongly recommend this DVD to all
your viewers.

I
received my copy of the Kuwait Airways DVD today
and after watching it I am extremely pleased with
the camera work and superb footage. The program
really does an outstanding job of covering the
entire operational aspects of Kuwait Airways.
Thanks should go to the respective crews for their
very detailed presentations of their aircraft and
their excellent explanations throughout preflight
and the actual flights. This is an outstanding
program that is definitely worth your money.

Wow,
no words to explain, definitely the best from just
planes. Big thanks to Kuwait Airways If not for
their support I don't think this DVD will not be
possible. I believe all the pilots were Kuwait
national with the exception of the A320 first
officer who was a westerner, but in spite of their
accent their voices were very clear. My favorite
part was the B777 landing at LHR, where the
captain's action of doing reverse thrust was
captured on camera. These are things we passengers
never get a chance to see. Highly recommended DVD,
a must for all aircraft crazy folks. However I
suggest not to watch this DVD when hungry, the
yummy food served on aboard can be quite a
problem.

I
just finished watching another winner from Just
Planes. A very well directed video and lots of
great scenery and in-flight footage. Mr. Tommy
Mogren has done a great job as usual. Keep them
coming Just Planes.
