Saab 340.....YS-11

Japan Air Commuter, based in Kagoshima, was created in 1983. The airline initiated its first scheduled service in 1988 with a YS-11 from Kagoshima to Okinoerabu. Since then it has taken over various routes of its principle owner JAS (Japan Air System). Currently JAC operates 12 YS-11s on 17 routes with 66 flights a day and 11 Saab 340Bs on 24 routes with 72 flights a day. JAC started replacing its fleet of YS-11s with brand new Dash 8-Q400s and expects to have its entire fleet of YS-11s retired by the end of 2006.
This program takes you on both aircraft to a variety of destinations in Japan and is a unique chance to fly and learn about this Japanese built aircraft and discover great scenery.

A great DVD of JAC's SAAB 340 & YS-11. Nice intoductory piece and actions at Kagoshima airport. Beautiful approach to Okayama at dusk. Spectacular scenery of Japanese southern islands [even including couple of smoking volcanoes], as well as very windy landings at Kikai & Amami. Great views of Fukuoka including its busy port and plenty of  action at treshold point. A very interesting glimpse into Japanese culture, from pilots in white gloves, to spotless and meticulously maintained airport grounds as well as ground crews waiving good-by to departing aircraft. Thanks for the enjoyable DVD.

I just wanted to let you know that I purchased the two DVD's from Japan - JAC and NAL. Both programs are awesome, as I've never experienced any Japanese scenery before. Tons of great shots in each one - NAL has the bigger cities covered and JAC has a lot of great shots of the coast and smaller cities. I'd recommend these shows to anyone interested in Japan or in the Fokker 50, Saab 340, and the YS-11. The crews do their usual great jobs for cockpit tours and walk-arounds. Thanks again for the great variety of locations and aircraft!

Just watched your new JAC YS11 DVD, it's interesting and informative! I loved the Japanese turboprop since I was a kid, and at long last I can witness its beauty and the famous Rolls Royce Dart sound in DVD quality! I liked the walk around and the cockpit details sections especially. Thanks a lot for providing this enjoyment! :-)
