Air Greenland was founded in 1960. Today it is owned by the Government of Greenland (37.5%), Scandinavian Airlines (37.5%) and the Danish State (25%). The airline uses the Airbus A330 & Boeing 757 for scheduled flights to Scandinavia as well as on charter flights.  Air Greenland operates an extended domestic network with the Dash 7 and helicopters.

This DVD features 4 different types of aircraft on a variety of routes, mostly domestic, operated by Air Greenland. You will discover some of the most amazing scenery in the world as you approach some very short strips covered in snow in the cockpit of the equally amazing Dash 7!

Very nice DVD. All flights on Dash 7 are very nice. I think is the best DVD of Just Planes. I like particulary take off and landing at Nuuk and Kangerlussuaq. The take off in B757 on the short runway of Narsarsuaq is amazing !!

Cyrille Guion, FRANCE

The scenery contained in this DVD is truly magnificent. The Dash 7 flights were a real pleasure, most of all the STOL performance of this aircraft. It was great to see the inclusion of the Sikorsky S-61 helicopter in the film which too offers great panoramic scenery from the cockpit!  P. Smith, UK

Again another Great DVD. Air Greenland is another top First class DVD with Super Scenery and Great Commentary by the Flight Crews. I really enjoyed all the flights on all the Different Aircraft. The Flight in the Sikorsky 61 was Truly Amazing, And flying at such low altitude really gives the viewer a good look at Sites of Greenland.
The Flight in the DASH 7 was Great as well, I was surprised by its STOL Capabilities. The Female Co-Pilot Anija really explained things well about the DASH 7 and the STOL uses. The 757 and A330 flights were Super. Pilots really explain things well. It was nice to see the In flight Service as Usual. I Highly Recommend this DVD to all. Keep up the Great work.

Great video as always...the Sikorksky S-61 helicopters were the draw on this one. A great product...  Clayton Rowe, USA

This DVD was great. I was blown away by the beautiful scenery not to mention one of the airports that the 757 took off from as it seemed that the threshold of the runway was near a plateau. Great variety of aircraft types on this DVD as well.  Jeff Schapira, CANADA

This dvd was a blast, the scenery is just incredible and the helicopter flights were fantastic. I was simply amazed at the landings in near whiteout conditions and the short STOL landings with the Dash 7. I was fascinated by the snow blowing across the tarmac. One runway was actually covered with snow! Liked how you emphasized the quiet of one of the remote hotels!  I was interested in the talk about Greenland tourism, they did not mention the reason I am contemplating a trip there (in summer of course)..to collect fifty kilos of super rare fluorescent rock specimens that glow under short wave ultraviolet lamps! The piloting is amazing throughout, and while I love the gorgeous scenery I am even more delighted by the skills in evidence as the pilots handle the planes in some challenging conditions. Excellent stuff.  Kimberly Edwin, USA

Air Greenland is the most amazing flying DVD I have ever seen. Airhostesses give a demo and safety in case of ditching , but by the look of the ice in the ocean on both ends of the small runways, I would say if the plane ditched the survivors would last half a minute in the water before freezing to death. I was particularly astonished at one approach into a severe cross wind blizzard where the plane points what appears to be 30 degrees away from the runway and only scrapes on the runway at the last minute. Forget airlines flying between Europe and USA , these Greenland pilots are the real Pros.  Ralph Selwyn, AUSTRALIA

The Air Greenland DVD is wonderful. It is amazing to see an airlnie that can survive in some of the harshest conditions, and still operate a moder fleet of Helicopters, Airbus, Boeing and De Havilland aircrafts through various ports, towns in Greenland, and to Copenhagen. This DVD is a must have. James Steiner, USA

This is truly a very interesting DVD featuring Air Greenland and its various aircraft. The scenery views are simply breathtaking but very, very, chilly. This is probably the most challenging flying I have seen as the pilots fly in and out of those small airports/landing strips. Having, many times, flown over the Atlantic to/from Europe and seen Greenland from 37,000 - 39,000 feet - it was very nice of World Air Routes to give us a look at what is actually down there in those snowy mountains. Great DVD!!!!  Stan Lenox, USA

Truly AMAZING flying in a very difficult environment. Being a pilot I can really appreciate the challenging conditions under which these flight crews function each day. Each area of the world has it's own set of weather and environmental conditions to deal with. However Greenland (and Iceland), must be among the MOST challenging to any piloting skills. As others have commented, the helicopter flights are among the most interesting, especially the arrival back in Narsarsuaq - low visibility; crosswind, almost a whiteout during the flare. I also appreciated the geographical features of the Greenland landscape - especially the large glacial rivers, flowing among the mountainous terrain. Some of the Dash 7 airports, reminded me of landing at Catalina, or Santa Paula - for piloting skills required. If you blow the approach and don't go around .... well the results are not pretty. Thanks for bringing us visions of far away places, which may never be visited in this life time. Tony Owen, USA

The Air Greenland video is unique. Not only do you get to see 4 different aircraft types (including a helicopter), but you also get to see a great glimpse of nature. Greenland is truly the last frontier, and this video helps you understand what it takes to fly in this difficult environment. If you ever experience a heat wave, just watch this great video and you will cool off very quickly. Thanks again to Worldairroutes (especially Jan Mogren for his great camera work) for another fascinating view of a unique part of the world.  Brian Gustason, USA

I Love all your dvds! Great job Boys!  Thomas Luethi, CANADA

I just wanted to drop you a note saying how much I enjoyed the Air Greenland DVD! The program was a terrific look at the unique scenery and geography that make up the region. The Sikorsky 61 flights were particularly interesting. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this DVD.Keep up the great work! I cannot wait to see what far-flung corner of the globe you will fly me to next!  Shane Hoefer, USA

The Air Greenland program is one of the best in the series! Lots of spectacular scenery in the part of the world that very few people get to see. Nice mix of aircraft types that even includes the first helicopter type featured on World Air Routes. I especially enjoyed seeing the Dash 7 as it is an airplane that I have worked with a great deal. Greenland is a place where the Dash 7 is especially wel suited. It takes impressive piloting skills to fly there and this program shows that. Lots of cockpit action on this dvd and a nice flight in the cabin too. Another excellent program with great camera work!!  Greg Rowland, USA

This is a very interesting dvd, with alot of spectacular and different scenery.....i put this on, on a 95 degree day, cranked up the a/c and flew over iceberg dotted waters, landing in what can only be described as wintry, snow covered, airfields....the helicopter flights were an added feature, reminding me of long ago military duty, and was alot of fun, also with spectacular scenery.....this is a very good dvd and the weather will amaze you......  Micheal Estabrook, USA
